Crail Golfing Society

The Crail Golfing Society is the 7th oldest golf club in the world. There are two golf courses belonging to the club; the Balcomie Links and Craighead Links. Most notably, it’s special because Tom Morris, golfing legend, laid out the Balcomie Links.

Firstly, Balcomie Links Course has a unique combination of three par fives, six par threes and nine par fours, producing a total par of 69. Many of the holes are on the clifftop, and the fifth is a 447-yard par four and is appropriately named ‘Hell’s hole’.

Craighead Links Course has spectacular views with the sea visible from every hole. It’s a traditionally built course but is susceptible to strong winds to add extra challenges. The 2nd hole is a difficult right angle 364 yards dogleg and is the hardest of the international course.

Course Facilities

Overlooking the 18th hole on the Balcomie Course with almost 360 views of the sea is the Crail Golfing Society Clubhouse. It has two bars and three separate eating areas. The clubhouse also has a fully stocked Pro Shop with clubs, clothing and golf accessories.

In addition to this, there are golf lessons available starting from £20. Push trolleys and powered trolleys are available for one round between £6-16, or a whole day for £10-£25. It’s best to book the equipment in advance, and rental clubs are available for £35 per round. Finally, the driving range is 300 yards long, with ten bays.
