Craigton Country Park is a great day out for anyone. There is a lovely park as well as well-tended gardens to explore and a large number of family-friendly activities to enjoy all year round.
The park is a popular local destination. The Friends of Craigtoun Country Park took over the running of the park in 2012. They work with Fife Council to keep this wonderful venue open and running. This has lead to a string of improvements that have seen to park become a more accessible and welcoming venue.
There are some parts of the park that are open and active all year round. These can be used for free. They include an adventure playground, a zip line, trampolines and a fairy glen. There is also a trim train if you are feeling energetic.
During the summer you can pay buy tickets to ride on the miniature railway or tractor rides. You can practice your putting and take on the crazy golf course. For the little ones, there are bouncy castles and pedal cars. You can also get out on the boating lake and enjoy the fresh air.
The park grounds are open all day, every day. This includes access to the gardens, the adventure park, zip wire and trampolines.
Admission and parking are free, but if you visit during the summer, then you have to pay for the attractions. There is a range of ticket options, but single rides start at £1.60. Children under that age of three can ride for free.
There is a cafe on site. However, it is only open Wednesday - Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm. The cafe offers both hot and cold food and does provide a child’s menu. There are plenty of places to stop and enjoy a picnic though so it might be a good idea to plan to bring food if you are making a day of your visit.
Dogs are welcome in the park. You are required to clean up after them and keep them under control, especially near the play areas, as you would expect.
