Designed by a golfing legend Sam Torrance, this course has deep revetted bunkers, classic links design and large greens. It’s part of the Fairmont resort just outside St Andrews. It has stunning views of St Andrews bay and has hosted championships in the past. The parkland course is 7037 yard, 72 par with 18 holes. It’s over 15 years old but could easily be mistaken for some of the earliest links courses. In addition to this, the Fairmont Torrence course is just 10 minutes from the Old Course.
In addition, it’s great for a range of golfing abilities. The toughest hole is 17, a par 3 and 22 yards. It has deep bunkers and a dry stone wall. To your right, there is the crashing North Sea and rough to your left. It’s Sam Torrance’s favourite hole. The course scores 4.9 out of 5 on Golf Advisor.
This is a 520-acre five-star resort, and there are plenty of facilities. It’s worth noting that The Torrance Course has a sister called The Kittocks. In the area, there is a wide range of food and plenty of accommodation. Also, The Fairmont Spa offers a variety of treatments and hosts a swimming pool, steam room and Jacuzzi. Bear in mind that the Spa facilities are open from 6 am till 9 am during the week, and 7 am to 8 pm on the weekend.
Caddies are available in advance if requested and there is a driving range, short game area and a putting green. Also, the practise facility offers targets and all-grass driving ranges. You can get 50 practise balls for a small fee.
Finally, make the most of your golfing trip and choose one of the St Andrews Hotel and Guest House Association's residences. For example, the Fairmont Hotel is a great choice. Therefore you have luxury accommodation with views over the North Sea and Tay Estuary, and as mentioned, extensive spa facilities.
